Key points:
- In online shopping, pants are the most commonly returned items. (fit issue)
- In areas with elastic bands, we must stretch the elastic band to its maximum length.
Questions:
- How to resolve color differences and material issues online? (Brand’s side)
- Detailed Product Descriptions, High-Quality Photos, Customer Reviews
- Generally, do suppliers provide free small quantity samples? Do we need to commit to a minimum order quantity?
- Suppliers may or may not provide free small quantity samples, and the requirement to commit to a minimum order quantity varies from supplier to supplier. It’s advisable to inquire directly with the specific supplier you are interested in to clarify their policies regarding samples and minimum order quantities.
- Why is matching checks expensive?
- Matching checks: Matching checks refer to the alignment of a checkered or plaid pattern in a way that the pattern seamlessly lines up across seams and joins in a garment or fabric. This means that the squares or lines in the checkered pattern are in perfect alignment at the points where two pieces of fabric meet, creating a continuous and harmonious look.
- Time consuming(making everything line up), cost a lot(Limited Production Runs), labor-intensive
Discussion – Metameric colours
Types:
1. Observer Metamerism – Two samples match in one set of conditions with one observer but no longer match when the observer is changed. Each person perceives colour slightly differently, this is caused by variations in the eye such as different responses of the cone cells, yellowing of the lens or variation in the macular pigment.
2. Geometric Metamerism – Two samples match in one set of conditions but no longer match when viewed at different angles, distances, light positions, etc. This is typically observed with 3d or textured items e.g. Corduroy fabric, pile carpet or towelling or two plastic surfaces with different textured surfaces.
3. Illuminant Metamerism – Two samples match in one light source but no longer match when the light is changed.
What is DRESSX?
DRESSX is the largest fashion store for digital-only collections from well-known brands and 3D designers. Understanding the scale of the negative environmental footprint produced by the fashion industry, DRESSX was created in July 2020 as the first ever platform for digital garments that generate zero waste, carbon footprints, and chemicals during their production. Working with traditional and 3D fashion designers, the platform offers virtual clothes that can be worn on photos as a substitute for buying physical clothes solely for content creation.
In August 2021, DRESSX launched its first app on the App Store, where digital looks can be applied in Augmented Reality. At DRESSX, we are absolutely sure that the future of fashion is digital.
What is Strike-off?
“Strike-off” is a sample or test print of a design or pattern that is created before the full production run. It is a crucial step in the design and production process to ensure that the final printed fabric or material meets the desired quality and appearance.
Takeaway:
- Got familiar with many specialized terms in clothing measurement.
- All elastic bands should be stretched to the point where the entire fabric can be measured.
- The clothing production process is very time-consuming. (Incredibly)
- DRESSX’s digital clothing production is fascinating as it can integrate with the metaverse, but it’s uncertain whether it will become a bubble. I’d like to observe how other brands follow suit or if it’s just a trend.
